Still giggling on the footnote.

I teach autistic young people psychology now. But back when I taught them English, I woulda loved to have you writing the exam papers! Those students needed some good ideas they could get behind rather than the tired old debates about uniform or writing letters to people they wouldn't even notice - never mind write to.

I'm glad someone noticed the footnote! That's a lovely compliment about the exam papers. Was this in a British school?

“Comedy is incongruence writ large.” WOW. Agreed.

Thank you! I love consonance, the repeated use of consonants in a sentence. There's a letter R in three of those words, as well as a repeated C. It really does describe comedy though, doesn't it?

Ex-English teacher but current Psych teacher here! In the UK. Where a sense of humour coupled with compassion for how hard it is being different/human are the secret sauce of teaching! If only the institutions were worked in weren't so outdated - we could really have some fun! See my note above to Dan!

I'd find it for you but ADHD would get me lost on the way! I really think we could campaign for Dan as head of AQA - or at least Eng exam question setting.

Becoming the head of AQA would be the sweetest revenge for my schooling years, haha. I'm pretty good at asking questions in my interviews. Although, I've read some cracking interview questions from others on Substack too.

I have wasps in my head too. This is a good read and I find humour is my armour against the actually unfunny clowns in charge.

Absolutely. Going into town is so overstimulating and keeping up with the news is endlessly depressing.

I'm very glad you enjoyed it. For me politics is necessary, but I can't healthily engage and know that other people have to take the lead.

Really good read Dan well done.

Comedy plays a huge part in improving mental health I feel along with my tools of gratitude and positivity as much as possible without toxicity.

In my working life humour always carried us through in dark times when looking after poorly people.

Its also a way of communicating and connecting.

Keep up the great work Dan!

Thank you for the nice comments Sarah! Humour can also dispell awkwardness and make difficult things easier to talk about.
